every fish has a price it all depends on if a buyer is willing to pay that price

at 10,000 euros the only people will to pay that kind of money are in Asia

it seams crazy to ship a ray to europe then ship them back to Asia with the extra shipping costs and your mark up

it will be intresting to see how fast the 10,000 euro rays sell if they sell at all in europe

the most i would be willing to pay for a top grade BD would be 3000 euros so at between 6,000-10,000 thats more than double my budget

Thats a ridiculous amount of money for a fish. I know the rarity etc... but come on thats just too much,

its not even rare now with the ban lifted

its not like a snow arow that you only ever see 1 or 2 of thats a rare price tag

BD cant be that hard to find if they can just go fish them when they want and ship out 20 to order i would like to see them do that with a snow aro

The mark up on high dollar fish isnt that much precentage wise. In fact a DOA or two would cause the importer to loose money in many cases.

I'd be surprised if the mark up is double the import price.

Financially its MUCH safer to buy about a dozen P cf. hystrix at say around $35ea landed and sell them for $200 each then it is to land a nice black ray at $3,000 and sell at $5,000.

Yeah you just made $2,000 on one fish but what if it dies, you are out BIG time. While sellling the hystrix you are making less on each fish but your mark up is WAY more and your net profit is about the same after selling about a dozen as selling one black ray but with out all the risk

So if you look at it that way, the guys bringing in these beautifiul high dollar rays are really doing us a favor.

Weren't WC BDs going for $1.6K when all this drama started?

$1600-$10,000..... Nah. Not much of a markup there.......

No thats going rate for WC regular leo at the moment. And to say BD is not rare anymore is crazy why cause a few people were able to get a total of 20-30 fish imported to date not including asia there not rare anymore? It all comes down to your budget and what your willing to spend some wont and I can assure you some will.

Purely speculative just like the crude oil prices... ahaa but for rays we got the options and we're not captive end users.

What is the point of this?
Why not try and sell something at top dollar while you can get it. You would be stupid not to. The name of the game is making money. Does the exporter care who gets a BD ray? Not likely. You have to pay to play this game. Those who can get top priority, those who can't have to sit back and wait for the game to cool off. Price is dictated by demand. Always has been always will be. No amount of complaining will change that

20-30 to 1 suppler :D

that means they are by no means rare in the wild if 20-30 can be found in a matter of months

could you get me 20-30 snow aros golden barramundi, albino leo or pearl rays NO now they are rare :D

I thought it was 1K for leo and 1.6K for BD.

The list from Oliver..........
