That is what I love about this site CRITICISM, If it works it works, no i am not misleading people either. And NO I am neither bragging. Why do I keep fish? For the hobby And love of it!! I have been keeping fish for about 20 years. Why do you keep fish ?? As long as the fish seem content and my water parameters are in check then what is so wrong with it ???

Why do I keep fish? Because I want to create a little piece of nature, so that I can pretend that I'm sitting in front of a river every night when I work.

You do 25% water chance weekly. you have loads of fish. your ammonia, nitrate and nitrate are all at zero.

where do you suppose all the nitrogen is?

Let me rephrase the question - in what chemical form do you think nitrogen exists in your tank?

if you have been keeping for for 20 years, you would know not to stock a tank like that. you are stunting the growth of your fish because all of those fish should be bigger than that for being a year. either your reading the test strips wrong your something because there is no way you could get away with 25% water changes each week. I tried that before and my nitrates were hitting around 40. i know for experience, look at my 100g stocking.

And I'll make another point:

There are signs - activity, growth rate, breeding frequency, etc. - that one can use to infer whether the fish are "happy". But nobody knows whether our fish are really content or not, because we are not our fish.

All we can to do is to recreate the natural environment for our fish, to the best of our abilities. How do you think you are doing?

exactly, i don't think you would see this many fish in pond in a natural environment.:screwy:

I never proclaimed to be a fish farmer or an expert, I am not in it to breed fish, I had said earlier that yes my tank is overstocked, but for now everything is working in favor. And no I am not a fish no one is so as to there happiness I guess no one really nows(true or not??).My fish are active, not to overly aggressive and all eat good, as to there growth rate I have seen and read about people having way less stocking and slower groth rates than mine. So what seems to be the problem ??

What do you all think of a 7'' low grade red dragon flowerhorn,4'' cherry fh,3'' cherry fh, 6 and a half inch synspila, 6'' synspila, 4'' synspila cross, 4'' salvini, 5'' nicaraguenese, 4''carpintis texas, two 4''red forest jewels for dithers and I love their color, Oh and two new members which I couldnt turn down for the price($50) A 9'' male venustus and a 7''female livingstoni-venustus female cross????? That the male ven calls his wife? HAHAHA. All in a 125g tank they all call home. Crazy huh.

WOW!

Answer the question - in what chemical form do you think nitrogen exists in your tank? Your test results are bogus and there's no way to tell what your water is like.

You have the right to keep your fish this way. We have the rights to voice our disgust.

Over and out.

As too overstocking, I have an example for everyone,my local hospital has a 400g long tank that is an african rift lake setup, That about 40-45% of the tank is composed of rockwork and driftwood, and is stocked with atleast 80 cichlids and out of that I would say half are huge (9-12''),and that is not counting the babies. So after the rock and driftwood wouldnt you say there is about 200-220g water left? And they get fed on 15 min intervals all day. Would you not say that that tank is overstocked ?? That is way more than I am doing...

Thanks Gruff I do have an 55g and 90g sitting in the basement I think I might set one of them up and make an african rift lake setup for now.
I would use those tanks. If your fish are the size you say,and have been in that tank for as long as you say, they are stunted. Not a good thing.
