Do you HAVE to stick the wood out the top? I get the dramatic affect but I would like the light closer to the tank/top.

Looks very nice! Fill and go! Post and show!!:D

I had a similar thought . . . beyond that, the setup looks awfully sweet, looking forward to the final product . . .

Think I'll call it "The Plagued Wood" the stones seems to run away from it, while a stone "lies dead" under it.

On a scale of 1 to Batman, I give it a Wesley Snipes circa 1993.

Agreed. Its pretty awesome just the way it is. I can't wait to see if any plants attach to that driftwood well enough to come up the whole bits out of the water. Really sweet start. NOW FILL IT AND PLANT IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a pretty good plan, I think you should break off some of the anubias as it grows where it is. And use those to plant the midground, and I think if you got some red rotala mixed in the background it would look nice.

yeah that sounds nice, i definitely want some red color in there. im sure my lighting will be enough to get some red coloration.

I'm not a huge fan of that rock type, but the placement of everything looks fine. Can't wait to see finished product!

yeah i here ya! i wish i could have some different rock but these are local and FREE hah! these 'amano' rocks are so damn expensive and im a cheap bastard :)

would you consider adding a few smaller foreground rocks? and I feel like you need a taller rock sticking up among the ones in the back left.
other than that, lookin sharp.

yeah definitely, i may end up adding some more rocks. im a little limited on space though, and i want to leave enough room for the ground cover

What kind of java fern? Needle leaf?

I think the scape looks good. Once you fill it in with the others I think it'll look good.

thx! yeah i want some needle leaf and the regular java fern. my lfs carries a lot of the needle leaf

I only have two major concerns about the layout.
The branched wood looks a bit thin and sticky to my tastes, are you going to plant anything on it? I think it would look good with some patches of moss.
My biggest concern is the driftwood screening and concealing whatever you have planted in the centre rear, but I suppose this might just be the lower stems of a tall growing plant?

I like the anubias placement up high. Another smaller anubias low right of centre (or a third, mid level left quarter) might balance it.

Something else I might try is another piece of wood sweeping up and across from the left as contrast to all the wood moving from the right.

thanks for your input. that was also a concern of mine, that the wood would be too thin and branchy. i do plan on adding lots of mosses to the wood though. driftwood was a challenge as all i found were large stumps, and i wanted the more branchy look. we'll see how it goes

I'm diggin' it. I think you may want to add some on the left side to go the opposite direction and if you have a few smaller pieces to go opposite of the main piece(as if 2 trees fell opposite ways in to each other)
Just my opinion is all but it makes a more natural look.DON'T cut that anubius man it looks great at that size.

thanks! i definitely love the anubias tree. i bought it as is from a guy that's been growing for almost 2yrs. its attached to the wood fairly well too

no i cant lower my fixture anymore. it's set at a specific height from the substrate based on PAR readings of light intensity. any lower and the lighting may be too intense, potentially causing algae...

you're not gonna put in any HC?
I like hc because it's such a versatile foreground plant.

no, no more HC! i had it in my previous tank and i hated it! it grew great, but it was so delicate, uproots too easily. this time my foreground will be staurogyne repens 049

and thanks everybody else for the feedback, much appreciated :D
