Beautiful puffer...think i've seen you post pics of this guy before here... i myself been searching for years for one of these guys and still haven't seen one in real life...
I love how it looks like he's found gold! he looks so nice. ppl looking for puffer info can also check into "pufferpedia" they have some info on him (he is rare, keep in mind, so info is limited) and also Pufferfish.net (a puffer fish forum)
They're called the Cross River Puffer, Tetraodon pustulatus. They're from Cross River which is a coastal state in southeastern Nigeria, bordering Cameroon to the east. Named for the Cross River, which passes through the state.
GR8...I'm currently researching vid cams...no idea what kind to get yet, I'll definitely post a vid when I get it sorted though.
As far as similarities to Fahaka, not positive (I've never had a Fahaka) but I don't think these guys are near the terrors Fahaka are. This guy shows no interest in hiding or lurking or burying himself so he can 'ambush' prey the way I've seen some pics of some members Fahakas, doesn't seem to be part of his personality...I don't know if that means his diet primarily revolves around shellfish in the wild or what though...probably doesn't need to 'ambush' a clam or a snail?
He did kill a Brycinus the first day I added a shoal of them in with him but he didn't eat it and has never looked at another fish again since.
Fahaka seem to be more of a piscivore I guess then these guys maybe?
Modest_Man...300-400 seems about average
Oddball...Thanks for the info about Cross River being a State as well as a river and the general location, I didn't know that.
