live food is the best nutrition you can give to any predatory fish.

scales, bones, organ, hair, muscle, chitin the entire animal itself is nutritionally superior or anything else.

hmmm... yes but does it have to be alive, that was my point.

Please make sure you understand why I posted this thread. It has NOTHING to do with a fish being eaten. Some fish will only eat LIve food. It has nothing to do with a fish being $20 or $2. It has to do with jack asses who post it up for PURE enjoyment. That is Animal Cruelty Period.

Feeding a fish to another fish for survival is one thing. P's will eat anything that is put in the tank.

Make sure you understand the difference between putting feeders in for survival of the fish and pure enjoyment.

I have a Gulper Catfish here for sale. When I first got him all he would eat were feeders. I posted up on You tube him feeding for potential buyers. That is eat. The Catfish did not pick at him or chase him or terrorize him. He ate it and that was it. It was not video taped for Pleasure, it was to show that he is eating and ready to be shipped. In fact I almost have him on Market shrimp and Frozen Bloodworms. Once that happens no more Feeders.

Based on this, I suppose you are a Vegan? Because of the obvious treatment of my steak, of course. This discussion could go on for decades with no agreement.

no i am not a vegan..i eat some chicken .. i am a hypocrite as u mentioned.. but i could easily give it up.. i just try to do my little part to help animals.. i cannot change the worlds food supply.. the slaughter i mainly mean is horses.. cows are great too.. but wow u would have to be a dictator to end cows from going for meat.. i live in reality.. i adopted a baby bull, Smokey was his name.. he lived for 10 years .. turned into a huge Oxen.. i just believe if everyone does their small part in taking care of their pets, adopting something that needs a home.. being kind and conciderate towards animals the world would be a better place.. and saving a few along the way is an added plus..

Pretty sure that's what I was implying...

Piranhas are naturally scavengers in the South American waterways. There is a difference between live food and prekilled food. I don't know about you, but a lot of piranha owners use frozen/thawed or prekilled food successfully. Even with prekilled, they get all the nutrition they need.

Look at snake keepers, we give them prekilled food and they get all the nutrition they need from whole mice. No difference here in comparsion to the piranhas, and there should be no exception either.

Well said Bro

Piranhas are not picky. They are like buzzards. Swim around waiting for an oppurtunity to strike.

surely to see these fish act out as 'in the wild', would take more than 5 or 6 fish, this was cruel and prolonged torture for the GT....a proper shoal would have ended the GT's life in seconds...

That is exactly waht you said, but I do not think most people go that. Please feel free to close this anytim as it is not going anywhere, but down hill.

Sorry everyone for starting a war. Just thought that the video was bull****.

lol sorry i thought your previous comment was made at me :D

Long as people keep things civil, it will be open.

As thebloodyirish has said, theres a difference between wanting to give your fish prekilled food if you want to do that as staple, than giving live food. It is just for people who want to watch some death happening... and they do it because it doesn't cost anything and people are fasinated by it and think it's cool. A lot of people who keep animals still have a lack of respect for life and the animals, and see them as possessions they OWN, not for what they are, per shown in your example N-E cichlids.
