hey hellman sell me your pair , or cichluvr sell me some cubans!

Limia and Gambusia are live bearers native to Cuba, as others have said, the type dither is not as important as that you have them to make your cubans comfortable. Cichlids watch schooling fish or ditherers to gauge their safety.
2 cichlids alone in a very white biotope will feel vulnerable and not show true colors. Hard to tell male from female in that situation, because they are so washed out. I use filter sand, but use dark logs and floating plants to make the cichlids feel safe.

now would it be good to put in some sliver dollars and some plants an more drift wood then

I found my female to be especially aggressive. She chases my silver dollars all the time while my male seems to ignore them most of the time. I think it helps the female feel dominant.

okay well dan said get a couple convicts and throw them in so is that a good idea so should i do something else and should i add some green to the tank on the top to make it so it isnt that bright in there

Convicts will probably help. I don't know why but my cubans seemed much more interested in spawning when there were other fish in the tank. When I had my female midas in the tank my male was on high alert and seemed more interested in spawning. I am currently looking for a good sized "target" cichlid to add to my tank to give the cubans some competition.
