Yeah that is kind of interesting that only silvers get it more often. If you look at the silvers body design as opposed to the asian aros and jars which have the same shape/type as the asian aros, makes you wonder if it has to do with the body shape.
Possibly the silver's have a weaker eye socket as opposed to the other aros? Who knows. Its one of life's little mystery. :grinno:

but blacks have the same body shape and i havent seen one of them with it yet.

The 18"-20"(at a guess) Jar at my LFS as drop eye, just apeared overnight, I went in one weekend he was fine and the next week it had drop eye?

Well there are many reasons for droop eye. Some believe it's from looking at the reflection on the bottom of the tank, which there isnt from the inside of the tank.....Floating foods and red ping pong balls could help, but thats out in the air........with too much fatty foods, like guppies and feeders. Surgery? Arowana face lift.....not if you dont want your arowana to look like Wayne Newton....Anyhow, reading through current imformation about silver aro's developing eye droop from hitting the tank. Too small a tank, which MOST silver arowana owners have.....55gallon,100gallon, etc. Once they mature and are 3 feet plus and the original owner really doesnt take the proper care to getting a larger home for the guy and leave them in prison. Well, you can see why a silver aro will get frustated and bash the glass with it's head.....in the end turning out like Mahamad Ali......Well, in conclusion......perhaps a larger tank/pond would be a good solution or my favorite......create an arowana safty helmet.....kinda like football players. :ROFL:Anyhow, who wants to get into it? Any takers? New Idea's......just dont get heated.

Well, just sit back.......and enjoy the ride.:D

LOL put the spliff done buddy

Damn helmets? What did u drink today there buddy...

I suggest suturing some string on each of the top rim of each eye and pull them together. It should fix it in no time ;).

Wow you think he is way up there?!

you guys are crazy, and it seems that the new arowana keepers are the only ones concerned about drop eye... it happens, say wahtever u want that u think is the reason they get it, but every every every silver arowana i've owned got it at some point in life, wether it be the first 5 months, or after 4 years without it. it gets it eventually... never jumped, never smacked his head, never fed anything that didnt float, did everything im supposed to do, it just happens.

well i am currently raising my baby silver. she was 1.5" when i got her and is now approaching 6". to date she has no sign of DE and as far as i know she has never had a hard hit to the head. i watch very closely for DE in her and try to watch her habits all the time. she is pretty relaxed most of the time so maybe i will luck out and she wont get it. But, if it is caused by injury then i guess it could only take one shot to the head to cause it???:irked: time will tell.

Honestly drop eye doesn't really have an impact on the view of any of my arowanas...I love them anyway. :D They are still one of the coolest fish anyone can have.
