Custom 3D-BackGrounds!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You wouldn't need to break anything down until it's complete. I'd take and build the background completely, and once you are ready to install, take your filter and fish and switch them over to a temp tank. Install the background, fill it once, drain it, fill it again, and hook up your filter and transfer your fish.

So ok wait you are saying build the entire Background, than when ready to install it, move the filter and fish to a temp tank, than drain the tank and install the background, than fill it back up and start my filters again ??

Thats what I would do. I think it would end up being a lot easier. Sure you would have to displace your fish for a day or two, but it would make the install a LOT easier for you.

Maybe someone else could speak up about a way to do it in-tank with fish.

I know I would personally feel a lot better doing it in a dry tank, filling it, letting anything that could leach, leach then draining and filling again.

To get any chemicals that may be in the foam/dyes/silicone out before you put it in with your fish.

I let mine soak in my tank over night, drained it the next afternoon, refilled and have had no issues to speak of.

I don't know why either! :)

You can use a regular ol' rubbermaid tub instead of an aquarium to house your fish while you get everything drained and installed. By using the water from the aquarium, and your current filters, you shouldn't break your cycle.

Are you worried about the work involved, or are you worried about breaking the cycle and blowing up your water params?
