Any kind of blue or pink styrofoam. It'll be in the building materials section in Lowes or Home Depot. It's available in 2'x8' and 4'x8' sheets. Looks like you'll be fine with a 2'x8'. You can get it in 1" or 2" thickness, which ever is better for you is up to you and your project.

You'll want a tube of GE Silicone 1.

A small woodworking file kit is great for shaping the foam. They had a kit for like $10.99 @ Home Deopt that I bought that contained 6 files rough to smooth, of different styles and shapes. A compass saw is also a great tool, and makes rough cutting your designs WAY easier. Go with cheap tools, afterall its only foam you are working with here.

You'll need a gallon of UGL Drylok, again wither white or gray, it'll be in the paint section.

You'll also need concrete colorant, that'll be somewhere near the cement in the building materials section.

You'll need a 2 cheap brushes as well. After you apply the base coat, wrap the brush up tight in a plastic bag, you can reuse it.

All in all, you're probably looking somewhere near $60 complete.

It is VERY messy.. Do you have a shop vac? It clings to everything, and makes a lot of dust! The area I was working in my basement looked like a pink warzone... Actually, I never cleaned up after myself and haven't been in the basement since, so it still looks like a pink warzone lol.

As long as you clean as you go, and take care not to track it all around your house, you'll be ok.

Ok well I'm going to review this whole thread take notes and than start a plan of materials and how I'm going to go about this i will update you and keep you informed so don't forget to look this up every once and awhile haha thanks so much buddy you've helped tremendously !!!!

Think your on the right path..you should definately empty tank to attache background..the green section is good if you have styrofoam attach to mor then one side is a plus. Seems that yoou got good tips...I made my background but it took 7 pieces to complete...you have to try to make your pieces big enough and as thick as you can so it won't fall apart, but not to big to where you can fit them in the tank because of your center brace... like I said imy background I made took seven pieces 9 if you count the fake rocks I made to match...good luck I will subscribe to check how u doing..
