Those are amazing pics. I love the breeding colors. I really want Mexican tetras too, but I guess you can't buy them in the U.S. I want to do a Mexican river theme tank, but the only fish you can buy in the U.S. are cichlids. I have swordtails, but they are not wild strains. Also, what is this other fish w/ the cyano?

Tonivlc, I am glad you came around! Here are a few more pics, you may or may not be familiar with? From Cuatro Cienegas area, and Laguna de Santa Tecla.

Hi to all, Joe how I said lines up, I have think theres only one variation of cyano. I talk a lot with people from mexico and they say me this.

Very nice pictures Tonivic. Very informative thread as well.

Email Juan Miguel Artigaz Azas, from the Cichlid Room Companion. Look at all the pictures, yours and everyone elses! There are at leat 5 varieties I counted on this thread. If it comes from a differant river or lake (naturaly), then it is a differant variety, and there will be subtle/minimal, to exterme or very obviouse differances. The holotype is from Rio Grande, that variety is the one from which it was described, so it was only logical that differant morphs or varieties existed, unless endemic to Rio Grande. It does not matter if you spoke with people from Mexico, Canada, or China. if there is a species or sub-species of cyano, that occures in another river, or many rivers, they are varieties, and part of a species complex. Just like with beani cichlids. There are at least 4 or 5 morphs I have seen, and they happen to each be from a differant river. They look relativly similar, but there are very noticable differances, between type localities! Sorry, I am a biologist (which makes me and my word worth nothing more then the next guy), but I tend to speak this way when it comes to discussing cichlid species.

Hi Joe, the people what make this pics, Marco and Francisco, go to make this pics after the car aniversary. Juan Artigas go to see the cyanos with they too.
I say to Francisco to answer you, I don´t know whre is make the pics and this variations. The xanthic variation of cyano is very rare, I never heard and see anything of them.
