I doubt that the Melafix made matters worse as opposed to simply not having an effect.I suggest seeking out medications that are more specifically geared towards HITH disease.
Melafix might be better for oscars and African cichlids but they do not work when it comes to Datnoids . They are very sensitive fish and any medication in the water can stress them and cause them to not eat

From what others have advised me and my experience with healing datnoid injury, clean water and salt will do wonders. Im pretty sure general cure helps with hexamita as well.

Looks like hith. Feed some metroplex or hex shield for now. Dab the areas with methylene blue. Watch the gills. Gotta figure out any other causes like stress, water gh, voltage m, carbon, diet etc.

Thank you your very helpful. I am trying metroplex and focus on the food. And containing that good water parameters. Will keep an watch their movement and keep an update on it.

Am I the only one who thought this was odd?
Is the tank brand new you should have some nitrate or it is not cycled

0 ammonia, 0 nitrate , and 0 nitrite.

Not the only one. Not completely cycled.

Totally agree with the 0ppm nitrate observation, it's the first thing which jumped out at me when reading post #1. You've got to address the elephant in the room first to maybe get a handle on WHAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUE, rather than just trying to fix the issue.

A 0ppm nitrate reading may be found after a 100% water change, which you don't do. So it's not that. But a 0ppm nitrate reading may also be found when an aquarium isn't fully cycled. Then ammonia and/or nitrite come into play which can both cause severe complications in any fish that are present.

Metro and clean water +/- Pimafix and melafix

The holes look small enough at this time for it to make a full recovery if rectified immediately

Treating the condition is not really effective, you need to find the cause and eliminate it.
Unless the root cause is taken care of, it will always come back It is a chronic condition that manifests over time
Nitrate, due to too few water changes and maybe along with some other stress agent are the most common cause.
Reducing nitrate with water changes usually does wonders.
But it could be.... nitrate in combination with stray voltage, or other out of wack water parameters, badly chosen tank mates,, too much/too little feeding of the wrong type food,, all these and many others could all contribute to it.
