Hi guys,

Well, after a year or more of thinking and considering, I finally went ahead and registered www.datnoids.com. I would like to start building out a site to help raise awareness, especially here in the U.S. where they aren't tremendously popular, for these amazing fish.

I want this site to be community oriented, educational and promotional, teaching people about dats and getting them interested/excited about keeping the fish. I have been gobbling up scholarly articles that were instrumental in defining the species and genus in an attempt to write a history of the species in the literature, in addition to providing other unique knowledge about the fish.

Anyway, I was wondering what direction(s) you all thought I should take the site? What would be most useful? What needs are there in the datnoid hobby?

Looking forward to working on this with you all!

You really think datnoids aren’t that popular here in the US?????? They sell Great here lol. Anyone that comes to this site or even know monster fish know about datnoids. I get what your doing for datnoids but any kind of information anyone is looking for etc can or could be found here since a good amount of datnoid owners come to this site from all over. Plus there’s vendors here that can bring them in to supply people that want them.

Well, nobody in my area had ever heard of them. I'm the only one that I know of that has one. That being said I like it that way, I like having something you don't see a lot.

This could be something along the lines of Planet Catfish but on on a much smaller scale. It would be neat if you could feature some of those youtube videos from Asia...but with accurate translations.

Agreed, would be cool to compile photos and pics of peoples dats before they get deleted or lost. There was a guy on here in Hawaii that had an insane dat collection I'm sure you all know him but it I can't see his photos since photobuckets update or whatever. So something to safeguard against this sort of thing.

Also might be cool to keep up on the ST breeding project(s).

Yep thats the guy. Someone should get a hold of that dude to post his collection back up haha. It would be cool to have some sort of a catalog or permanent reference for some of the insane collections on here and elsewhere.

That'd be neat as I'd love to know if he is still in the hobby and keeping dats.He never was very active on here.

Last time I knew he did have a bunch but was cutting back a little. That was a few years back.
Shame we can no longer view his photos thanks to Doodoo bucket.
