Great stock and a great tank! Cant wait to see this thing progress

Thanks David - i'm very fond of my little girl.

Sitting back and watching with a beverage sounds just about right for now after all that hard work.

Thanks all, I'm incredibly happy with the tank and have been spending a fair bit of time in front of it.

No issues so far, everything ticking over well. I was running an Eheim canister off the old tank on the settling chamer of the sump just to help with the bio load during the transition, I removed that yesterday and now it is accumulating much more muck. I also added a Tunze 6025 to help move the waste from the plecs towards the overflow, that was a bit of a wake-up call as to just how big the tank is, I couldn't get it anywhere near the middle of the back panel without actually getting into the tank! I've painted the spraybay with krylon fusion to try make it a bit less obvious and will be putting that back in tomorrow and might take some more pics then. And the temp controller a friends father i building me is finished so I should receive that in the next day or two.

The plecs are feeding well, I watched last night with the night light on and they all came out and forraged around looking for wafers. The four royals [surprisingly] seemed to be hanging around together in a group, though I did see two of them having a bit of a scrap today. Aro is eating like a pig too, might start trying to feed him some shrimp soon, he's never eaten anything but pellets so it may take some training!

Sorry I haven't got around to taking the pics, tank has been a little cloudy and there has been a small amount of detectable ammonia after I fed the plecs a bunch of zucchini the other night. Been regularly water changing to try bring it down, I'm loving the sump drain, makes water changes so simple! The barrel warms up to ~20C from <10C tap water temp in under 24 hours just from the ambient temp in the room (heat pump set to 22c). 10% change is as simple as hooking the hose on and switching on the pump. I really need to plumb a line in to refill the barrel though...

Not sure if I posted this up before, just found it on my phone, this is what it looked like after one night with the plecs munching on the new wood before I installed the powerhead...

Hi,
Sorry to ask, but it is a big thread, how do you do your water change? Is it using the red barrel on the last page? also what filter are you using?

thanks
