not only do i respect you for the patients to raise a monster like that. but i envy you for growing a monster out like that. sucks he's gone man! hope the fire eels turn into monsters like that. he was gorgeous.
It´s a sad day for you and your TTE. Sometimes things likes this happens whitout us knowing why..

I'm SO sorry. I lost my big fire eel a few months ago to the same thing. I adored that fish and totally understand what a heartbreaking loss it is. It was my worst fish keeping day to date as well...

Norbert is still in my freezer until I find the right rose to burry him under (never have burried a fish). So that you know, I raised two other, younger fire eels together. They are now 26-28" and do wonderful together. Actually, Norbert was a lot older and bigger, but the three of them could not have been more peaceful with each other. They all had their own hiding spots, but my two younger ones spend more time together. I wish you all the luck in getting your two fire eels.
