Forget the stingray and the rtc. Why Not just buy another pump to increase water flow or buy another filter to add on?? Sorry if that sounds too reasonable

I have 2 fx5's on the tank one has a 62spray bar on it to lol, why not get something like a bichir to help eat anything left over on the bottom if there ever is, plus the birchir will help move/pickup any dirt/poop in a dead spot behind a rock or plant right ? Plus only bottom feeder I really have is my pleco as for the BGK I think he's retarded never eats and always stays in the same place middle of my plants lol

Polys are pounce predators tht can be trained onto frozen and pellets/sticks. They're also, in their own right, messy feeders that will add to the overall mess. They are not considered to be 'cleaning crew' species.

A BGK that doesn't eat will quickly be a dead BGK. Once they start dissolving their fat layers to compensate for starvation, they lose their electric navigation abilities and finding food will become haphazard at best. The BGK is primarily a nocturnal feeding species. So, be sure to provide food (bloodworms/blackworms/chopped earthworms, etc.) when you're about to turn the lights off. Once BGKs adjust to their environment, they can tame down enough to feed from your fingers and will likely seek food during the tank's normal feeding times. Until that time, ensure he's getting his proper share.

I've had this BGK for quite awhile now, he was really good at eating and all until maybe the last 3 weeks he's become super lazy lol, he eats maybe every 2 or 3 days

Another note: BGKs are more comfortable in caves. You can place a proper size piece of PVC pipe in the tank for his use or purchase a ghost knife clear acrylic cave. Their eyesight is poor so, the clear acrylic doesn't matter to them so long as their electric field senses the 'cave' surrounding them.

Ya I have a 5"x12" pvc pipe in there he normally goes in but last week now he been hiding under my driftwood where I have a large plant that he seems to like lol

I think much of it has been said but I think I need to state this.

You don't add rays to compliment your tank, you build your tank around your ray.

Frankly they are one of the most requirement intensive fish you'll ever get.

Back to the cleaners, I'd get a pig nosed turtle, mine cleans the floor pretty well but if you're not into that kinda thing then just get another filter or scoop up the debris left by your monsters

I have to say-I'm amazed at this thread. I have a RTC who we've had for for almost 3 years now. He's a "healthy" eater. Not a clean up, necessarily, but eats ANYTHING he thinks will fit in its mouth including the irridescent shark that was bigger than him. I also have an achara cat housed with him who's a tad bit bigger. Rtc takes nips/chunks when we forget to feed the cats...We're still getting materials for the indoor pond/tank build for these two cats. I have a polypterus/bichir (albino) who's 4-5 yrs old. As far as I know, never ate a live fish. Eats well though, very slow grower. Still in the 20g, happily. Recently (this week) acquired our first stingray after years of begging hubby for one. It's true you build the tank around the ray. I am still figuring out which fish is compatible amongst my stock with her. But, it's looking to be just a loner ray tank, and it's okay...

I have gotten some great advice on this forum. That being said, why are some people so rude? The reason us "newbies" ask questions is for help. Seems there are a bunch of tough guys on the Internet. Sorry about hijacking the thread. I just can't stand when people are so rude to people asking questions. If we knew the answers we wouldn't inquire.
