Do you add decorations for the soul purpose of eye pleasure?? Or, do you add decorations because you know one of your inhabitants will use it in some why or another??

I have to say for me it's both, because the only way I'll use something in my tanks is if I know it will have a purpose, but I also have to like the way it looks..

These are a few examples of stuff I have:
1. I thought about not keeping the little fallen tower, but my Yellow finned eel really likes it, so I decided to keep it. :irked: Of course plants provide many benefits far any tank, but with this one, I notice the fish like to swim through them.. almost like making a little struggle.. on purpose.. I guess it's kinda like fish toys...

2. This is a natural rock, and when put in this position makes a cave like setting.. everyone likes this one but its the rope fish who dominates it. He will be coming out soon, and going into another tank.. but with his rock of course.

3. The manzanita, provides protection for everyone.. especially underneath the knot and the lower branches.. even the artificial plants in there provide many hiding spots for the already eaten ghost shrimp:(.. including many of the fish...

Another one, not pictured is for my Blood Parots.. I made a little bridge like thing.. made from a few flat rock... I noticed one day that they enjoyed swimming through it.. so now I set it up for them everytime I rearrange the tank...

Feel free to add your own pictures... :D

I'm guessing most of you guys will choose 'both', but I have seen on several occasions where there is a huge rock as a center piece, that does not seem to serve much purpose.. Nothing wrong with it.. just an observation....

I dislike the ceramic pots but my fish love them.....thus I have some....I try for more natural but do listen to what others find important for spawning because that is always my ultimate goal. :)

Agreed. Clay pots and PVC are a complete eye sore for me.. but I actually thought about putting in a clay pot recently... luckly through unplanned events I didn't have to.. I think the only way I would use the PVC pipe is if I could cover it in some sand or gravel, or spray paint it with somthing fish friendly...

I have 3 large pieces of Texas Holey rock in my tank. The one on the far left I like because I like the way it looks with an Airstone under it. It's also a great place for baby Crays to hide. The center piece is the largest of the 3 pieces and this one sitting the way it is right now make 3 individual cave compartments. And lastly is the piece on the right which give my smaller Oscar a place to dive when the big one is being really Obnoxious.
