We'll the senegal in the tank is growing all ready its put on a good inch and gotten a good amount thicer in around 2-3 weeks which proves that fish can grow in my that tank so i think it may just be the delhezis genetics
Maybe some people feed to much protein and this is the reason for all the accelerated growth? But remember that growth isn't always a sign of health...
Just keep on as you are and make sure to feed a goooooooood quality pellet to add all the nutrients and oils etc that other foods are lacking in.
Right around the 1 year mark for haveing this guy so heres an update
Hasn't grown much if any now its in a 10 gallon with the same senegal and african leaf fish still doing dayly water changes and feeding it a good diet Bloodworms, shrimp, pellets, fishfillets and beef heart
Now the Senegal who started out around 1/3 the size has now all most caught up in size i was expecting this but was hopeing the Del would have grown a little more then he has
i had my del and senegal growing in a 10g both 2" at the time. both grew but the senegal grew alot faster. i put them both in a 55g for about 6months. the senegal's growth exploded but the del didnt seem to grow but an inch or so. i now have them both in a 125g and the del seems to be growing nice. the senegal is now about 9" and the del is about 5-6". ive read that dels just grow slower
Yeah my sen when I first got her was half the size of my (WC) delhezi, and in the same amount of time (that I've had both) has grown to double the size (almost) of my del. The del hasn't really grown, but then again, it doesn't eat like the sen does.
Thanks for all the comments i think that other then the small grow out tank i might not be doing any thing wrong it might just be Genetics or something i know its a captive breed Delhezi so that may play a large role in its growth rate if i wan't a large delhezi i mightjust have to order a WC one
