This happened yesterday not to far from me. One of my friends who is in the process of acquiring their non-profit status for animal rescue is helping this lady get Harley's vet bills paid for.

Please join the FB group Justice for Harley. Spread the word for this sweetheart of a dog. The entire way to the vet he was giving kisses to people he had never met before. You can PM me for more info :) Thanks.

what a disgrace. Police officers are increasingly unprepared to carry out their job.

What a moronic and stupid thing to do. What a shame.

I agree. The vet said the way the bullet holes are, the dog was probably in a sitting position when he was shot.

thats disgusting! surely they cant fine her, the police 'broke' in to her yard! tbh even if the gate wasnt shut/locked the dog was still on her property, wasnt like it was roaming the streets mauling people.

she should get the police to pay for her lawyer too.

this is just unbelievable. he was a pet not just a guard dog. i can tell u now if someone broke in to my home i would have no problem clobbering them with whatever was to hand and im not even a dog! (no comments please)

doesnt supprise me. more and more cops think that shooting a dog is the best method to deal with a dog.

this line is just..........

"They felt he was threatening and they shot him and I think they overreacted," Bonelli said. "What does a dog do? It protects the property and I was told by the police when I got robbed to get a dog. So I did what they said, and they shot him."

I agree. The only offer they made to her was for animal control to take the dog from her and put him down, but would not offer for medical care. The great part of the situation is when her house got broken into they told her to get a dog to protect the house. She did that and then they come into her yard and shoot it. Currently the owner is unemployed so my friend's rescue is trying to get enough donations to pay for Harley's vet care so the lady can afford to get a lawyer.

The worst part is that this is like the 2nd dog they have shot within like a year. The first one was understandable as it wasn't in it's own yard and when they cornered him he tried to bite, but going into someone's yard, knowing there is a dog back there, then shooting the dog before it even stood up, is ridiculous.

That is a damn shame, they should pay the vet bills and pay for pain and suffering also..

I had a incident similar to that but i came out side just in time to find a cop in my driveway drawn down on my Golden retreaver that was tied up in my yard. The cop said "Good thing you came out, i would have hated to kill a good dog" :WHOA:
I told him, "that's good i would have hated to kill a perfectly good cop":WHOA:
Needless to say he didn't care for that too much. We had some heated exchange of words and he left my property..lol

It is my hope that this matter goes viral on them and opens up a can of whoop ass on them.

That deputy is a pee poor excuse for a cop.
