!!!! DESPERATE URGENT HELP WITH MY DOVII !!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I will just keep up with what I am doing, and hope for the best.

So what exactly are you doing?

Daily water changes, keeping him as comfortable as possible, feeding him medicated soft food so that it doesn't bother him when he grabs it, treating the water also with antibiotics and salt, and hoping for the best. Paying a lot of attention to him seems to keep him entertained and happy. Removed his toys so that he can relax a bit more. Still trying to get him to let me pet him, but we will work on that when he recovers. :)

Sorry i can't suggest anything that will help, but i hope you get him fixed !

Good luck with trying to "pet" him too, rather you than me

This happened to my beanii, I thought it was from lip locking, but the male died very quickly, then after a few days (without the male) the female presented the same symptoms. The female died a few days later. As Modest man stated, I also had an egg crate divider and it could be the case.
It seems to be a bit like tetanus in humans, if so it could be a virus (which meds probably would have no effect on).

duanes ......... your fish died from an acute form of Flexibacter columnaris (Flavobacterium columnare) See post #7 in this discussion.

I recently lost a GT to this its horrible to have and spreads so quickly I treated with maracyn1 and maracyn2 and It did not help much... I hope your guy makes it.. here is a few picks of my gt may he R.I.P.

Madness, I saw when you first posted and immediately emailed a couple friends, including RD. I haven't treated this issue personally, and happened to agree with the advice RD gave. Members here are here for ya, even if they don't post personally. ;)

How's he doing BTW?

just to provide a reference

mine did not present any of the fluffy growth normally associated with columnaris., but
I wonder if this is a recent mutated strain phenom, death happened very quickly.
It did happen in spring as the article stated.
