i bought myself an aquarium of 800 gallon (3000 liters in dutch) it costet me 250 euro for the tank and all the pumps, filter, elektronics. i had to spend 1000 euro just to make it possible to put the tank. Poring concrete: 300 making steel frame 200, pcv piping from livingroom to shed (15 meter) and about 500 euro for the elektricity. normaly running on 230 ac now on 380V.
I was verry lucky to buy this tank, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
But........ i still want bigger.

I feel your pain man. And I know you cringe like I do when you step into the classifieds on here and see all those sweet deals in SoCal. I wish I could filter SoCal listings out so I would not see all the deals I am missing.

I do have a 125 though which is as big as I can go for now unless I want to be divorced.

Couldn't of put it better my self.

I feel your pain, but from the other side of the coin. I cant seem to sell my 100gallon tank, with stand and light at $100.00 O.B.O here in Southern California.
I turned 40 in January and all that stuff that people tell you will happen when you turn 40? it does! All at once! 40ism is not progressive, its instant!
I think the way to go for you my friend is to build a DIY tank. Thats going to be my next move, well after I move and get a house in NC. Us old timers have the experience an skills to pull these off.

Wise words. thanks.

Yeah here in PA I have 2 people coming to look at my 55 gal for $150 which seems like the going rate for them when complete.

That said I did just buy a 125 for just over 200....though I then spent another 1-150 on the stand...

Redearsunfish - I am not sure where you are but I know my local LFS sells tanks for great prices. I could have had a new 125 for 295... Though I am lucky enough to have That Pet Place as one of my LFS.

My friend, I am in a place much worse than you in terms of value for the dollar.

I'm in a place where one adds big, big money to any ticketed price, just so that the government can spend it remarkably foolishly.

The prices I pay for things would scare the whiskers off a catfish.
