Devil in the box:"Bagarius Yarrelli"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just noticed the FX5 intake. That really puts this shot into perspective. God these fish make big tanks look like a 20 long.

I agree with you! This guys a beast! I had him in a 75 gallon holding tank before I shipped him and he made the tank look quite small!

I held a tape measure to the front of the tank when he was up front and he is now 26" not including steamers.

Well it's a sad day as my first goonch is going to his new home. He inspired me to do my first fish video in 24yrs of fish keeping and was fun and joy to keep but I had to let him go as he wasn't stingray friendly so he is now residing close by in a catfish pond. In the 8 1/2 months I owned him he grew from 21" to 30" and grew his last 4" in a 150 gallon tank. Crazy growth and I expect this guy to get even bigger in the pond he is now residing in. Here are his going away pics. I think he is up there for being one of the biggest goonch's on MFK and hopefully I can get update pictures on his growth and health in the future.

He couldn't fit straight across in the tub and corner to corner measured 32" and since there is a little gap I deducted 2". So 30"!! :headbang2

Ya man. Djaalix was having the same problem. At least now he'll have a huge pond to grow even bigger in! Maybe you can try a rutilus? Mine isn't nearly as aggressive as my Indians, they don't grow as big and they actually prefer the warmer waters.

Last video I had of him eating pellets. After this he even became more accustomed to me feeding him and he would come to the top of the tank and sit there until I dropped the pellets.

Sorry your letting him go, but great job with him ... he is a big boy! Funny how in different tanks, different water conditions these guys still do the same things ... mine have figured out when my hand goes in it means food, which is bad when i have to go in and adjust a powerhead they knocked over or something, they always go after my hand, and i scream like a girl! Rays are tough with them, the rays just get out competed for food ... anyway hopefully we keep receiving updates of him, he was a beautiful specimen when you got him, and has only gotten nicer, so hopefully this continues
