You should get her an AR..

Realistically.. If she wants to marry you, how you do it isn't going to matter much. I can still understand you want to be creative. I would too. But don't make it rocket science, it's not. It's a simple yes or no based on how much she likes you. :)

If you're gonna get her a colored diamond then get a gemstone and save the couple grand. The only real reason to buy a diamond is because it's a clear stone. That and IMO I would get a non perfect big diamond over a small perfect diamond. You can get a lesser clarity larger diamond for the same price as the uber clear small one and most minor clarity issues you won't even notice with the naked eye. And lets face it, when she shows it off she probably wants a rock that's going to impress.

.02 in the jar
yeah i here you about the clarity. i spent a good amount of time looking at different stones with one of the jewelers. inclusion and clarity doesnt mean squat, besides it affecting the price. you cannot tell an FL to an IF3 with the naked eye.

now color, this is what was most important to me. i could easily tell the different between a D and an F color, which is why i chose a D colored stone. size-wise im going for about 1 carat.

proposal, lets hope youre right ;)

First of all I love the setting you picked!
second...how to do it eh. Is there something you two have always enjoyed doing together? Like do you hike or enjoy fine wine or something like that?

Personally I have looked a few times. And the thing that bothers me the most about shopping for diamonds is the sellers get you to look at the underside of the diamond to prove it's cut so well. And the whole time I'm thinking who the hell is ever going to see the bottom of the diamond once it's in a ring!?

So just get one that looks nice from the standpoint of it in a setting not it loose.

and hopefully you find a place that doesn't work on commision. there is a place like that near me it's great no preasure.

yeah i always here that cut is the most important thing, because that affects how it shimmers and refracts light yadda yadda yadda. for me most important thing is price LOL. followed by carat weight, then color :)

do something around that then...like make her seem like its an average day going to the gun range and well I don't know guns but have one creatively hidden in/around the gun...on the trigger? lol like I said I dunno guns. :P

OR try this??
Go to the gun range ahead of time and write on the back of her target will you marry me with an arrow pointing down and hang the ring on the bottom of the target (assuming shes a good shot) so when she goes to get her target she will see your message and the ring!

thx! see i thought they removed some of those prongs when mounting the stone, depending on the shape  who knows! it would be cool if they stayed on

They might, if the stone is a funky cut.

I had the waiter write "Will you marry me?" on a piece of receipt paper and had him bring it instead of the check. Then (on our anniversary, mind you), I acted like an ass an insisted it was her turn to pay. When she finally grabbed it and opened it up, I busted out the awesome ring.
