good possibility

the size difference between the bellycrawler and the jo is what's going make it worse. i have two lucius of the same sex in a 7' 210 without problems, but they are only 3 and 4 inches so they have a lot of room to stay out of each others' way.
What if I found a small johanna? The johanna would probably outgrow it though, wouldn't it?

yea johannas get pretty big pretty fast... nice pike though...

mine has grown over 2" per month so far.

i would get a tapajos II over a johanna

tapajos I is red. i agree on the suggestion to keep belly crawler in the 75 and put orange in the 300. stick 3 of them in there along with some dithers and hope for a pairing and then sell the odd one out before it gets killed.

So just the 3 oranges and some dithers? How big do they orange get, 10-12"?

Would that be a tapajos red?
Tapajos II are also called "Cobra"s. Tapajos I look VERY similar to TII's as adults but very different as juveniles. Both are very red.

From what I've heard, 10-12 is about right for Xingu I ("orange") with males being larger. I've also heard they are on the aggressive side for pikes.

16+ hopefully you would get a m/f pair and then find a new home for the odd fish or it would die. so you would wind up with a pair of xingu 1 (orange) and whatever you chose for dithers - tinfoil barbs, convicts, silver dollars..... or all of the above since your tank is of good size. would be my choices to keep the tank lively and the convicts will help keep the pike fed.

my sveni do good with an oscar, african brown knifes, needle nose gar, and a colombian catfish. you cant really say what they'll do good with cause alot of it depends on the individual fish. but one thing is certain try to stay away from something that has the same body shape cause 99% hate other pike.
