I'm sure that there is no gold tint near the gill. Most likely it's something from the quality of the photo. It could be a Green Aro but I think it's Banjar Red. I would need a better quality photo but like I said earlier. Small Aros kept in white tanks can be tricky to identify.

Yea it is very hard to tell when its in white tanks only way to tell is to go to a big arowana farm or a very reputable place and trust what they say and certificate. :D

It's a lot easier to identify when I see them in person.

I am 100% sure it's not a golden. I have 6 more banjars just like it. The little gold you see is coming from the banjars other name. Yellow-tail I believe.

I think that gold gold is the quality of the photo like Hao said. Yellow tail im sure of it that yellow-tail arowanas dont have that gold coming from it. Yellow tail usually have white to greenish bodies none i have seen with little gold on it most have only yellow on the tails and fins but I could be wrong.

Yellow tail(Scleropages macrocephalus) is a natural species. While the Banjar Red is a hybrid. It's a confusing hybrid though. I've seen SR(Scleropages legendrei)xGreen(Scleropages formosus) and SR(S. legendrei)xYT(S. macrocephalus) being called Banjar Red. But really, it depends on where you got it from too. I've seen farms calling Yellow Tail and Banjar Red, the same thing. I've seen farms calling Yellow Tail natural and Banjar Red hybrid. But I believe the real S. macrocephalus should just be called Yellow Tail Arowana. While the hybrid of S.legendrei and macrocephalus should be called Banjar Red. Since S.macrocephalus originated from the Banjar masin in Indo. Since the hybrids are crossed and have legendrei genes, Banjar Red would make more sense for the hybrid. Like I said it's confusing since not many research is being done on Aro. You can't really rely on farm/common names. There's too many crossbreeds in the Asian Aro world now. I've seen XBxRTG,HBRTGxRTG,XBxHBRTG,XBxSR,XBxGreen,SRxRTG,SRxHBRTG,SRxGreen, RTGxGreen, etc many more combinations. Get's complicated.

Holy !!!!! That's a lot! I use to breed betta fighting fish and always thought it was cool to create hybrids but compared to arowanas! Oh man now I'm more interested in it than before! Rtg will be the first !

Agreed haha. Yeah the whole banjar and yellow tail thing is so confusing haha. These specific pieces are from pang long and are labelled banjar reds. No complaints whatsoever :) also have a crossback from PL. Mind I ask what you have? Always fun hearing about other peoples fish :)
