Goldfish..I have two "feeders" I bought 4 years ago for my snowflake eel however the eel died. I didnt have the heart to get rid of the feeders and figured they deserved a second chance. I still have them they are massive, however they pollute the hell out of my tanks
Pics of your massive goldfish............

Is that statement based on fact?
It would be a little hard for me to provide good information if it wasn't

Consequently, digestion in the carp is very simplified as is clear when looking at the homogenous and apparently unspecialised intestine. As a whole, the intestine is a relatively simple and featureless structure unlike other vertebrates, has no multicellular secreting glands, valves or caecae. In fact, apart from the dilating receptive sack the intestine is visually undifferentiated along its length.
they basically just have a spot that can stretch in there tract

Carp have an almost stomach-less digestive tract.... Koi are carp. Goldfish are NOT carp they aren't even in the same genus. Goldfish digestion is VERY different from Koi digestion. Please don't lump them together.

I read the article about the goldfish's digestive track. In the end they recommend feeding goldfish a small quantity of food at each feeding.

Again, my point is we are setting up goldfish for failure (being labeled as messy) when we overfeed them. Overfeeding in their case would be feeding them the same amount as you would a typical tropical fish.

So I say one fish is no more dirty than the next. The real culprit is the fish owner.
Yep,poorly maintained tanks with inadequate filtration are the causes of so called dirty fish.

I beg to differ, I see alot of places that refer to them as carp.

The fact that they were breed from the prussian carp(Carassius gibelio), seems to support my conclusion.

carp refers to multiple genera, Carassius is one of them

I really think it has to do with the food we feed our fish....in koi food there will always be an ash content, along with lots of random fillers that just give 'fluff' to the food. Ash is totally undigestable to koi so it just goes right through them, hence the mess...

Just for an experiment I decided to give my koi a "monster fish diet", I haven't fed them their normal koi pellets in a week, instead I've been giving them a mix of shrimp, tilapia, peas, carrots, apples, and lettuce. Before when I fed them the pellets, I would ALWAYS see a giant glob of poops in the center of the pool that would need to be vaccumed out, but this week I have hardly seen any litter on the bottom which tells me they are digesting almost all of the food I've been feeding them. I'll probably continue feeding them like this, mixed with thier normal pellets, since it seems to be doing wonders for their growth and appetite. :D

what about pirahnas? if you have a few big ones and feed live...game over, they leave a huge skeleton and the blood or any other liquids left from the fish cloud the crap outta the water. that happens everyday.
