Dirty tank

Your life at the minute seems to be a quick water change here and there, and then off you go for days on end fishing, lol.

To keep a tank in tip top shape it needs more than just a quick water change. It's called maintenance young man, and your disturbed heap of crud which has fouled your tank up is a sure sign you're slacking!!

Get with the programme, shape up or ship out. The maintenance police are watching, lol.

All sorts of police running around.Fish police, grammar police, the tang police and to add to that- maintenance police! lol

Just did me second weekly water change and I went to move the plastic plant in the corner to clean under it and now there’s millions of tiny particles in the water. I completely took the plant out and finished the water change but now it looks like my Tank has been overstocked for a month with no water changes. View attachment 1466416
This is why I hate gravel, you need to vacuum it often or you get mulm build up underneath.

I do water change ever Monday morning to siphon gravel, about 25% water change and
Then on Thursday afternoon before I eat dinner I stick the Siphon in and let it go for a while and just change about 40% of the water without touching the gravel. Do this every week, I guess I’ve seen the plastic plant in the back corner and been forgetting to clean where it is which caused the bug build up. Truth is, I do load of stuff for my tank that I don’t mention on here, I always net out Debris/uneaten food/waste about everyday i do that along with an hour am a half of scrubbing down the tank with my magnetic algae scraper to get the algae off the inside main viewing panels (I’ve only been doing it the last 2 days but plan on doing it once every two months for a couple days also my algae scraper is absolutely terrible and it would take almost a full day to clean all algae off all 4 glass panels). A couple days a week I have a bubbler for extra oxygen in the tank and inspect my fish for about 30-45 minutes with my glasses on to see if there’s any fin damage, diseases or growths, and for any change in colors and missing scales. So far no missing scales no disease or damage and lots and lots of color changes.

Yea but then with the gravel I find that it helps pull the heavier stuff up, when it’s bare bottom tank with my anyways I find that there’s some debris that are heavier than others and the suction isn’t strong enough to lift it but with the gravel the rocks are always bouncing and lifts up the stubborn waste

Like others have said, you disturbed the gravel bed too much. Happens to me a lot, it settles in a day. Cutting back on feedings and doing more frequent gravel cleanings until it goes away should fix it.

No big deal. a little bit of particulate matter in the water column is all part of the game, especially when you have gravel for substrate. I have found that if you add an equal amount of sand to the substrate, it fills in those gaps where debris and crap can start to fill up, and IMO it looks a lot better.

For what it's worth, you might as well just get rid of the fake plant now, as when that thing gets bigger, it's going to dislodge the lighter decorations daily.

And lastly, ease up on the candy kid. What I see in the picture is more than you should be consuming in a month.
