:confused:What do you know? I'm worried:nilly:

Trust me on this, give it a week or so and it will be a jungle, but I agree it looks a mess the way it is, hence why I've been holding off on the picture, but i had to post it to keep the thread updated.

I've only took cuttings from the Micranthemum to fill the background more and it grows like crazy with the flourish, as well as the polysperma. Once everything is sorted and growing nicely then the planted tank would be keeping the cost of Georgey boy's food down;)

Thanks for the advise, on the planting and criticize away, there's far too much of 'that tanks cool, great job etc'. at times, it's refreshing to hear that tank could be better if....

Worried about what, at the price your getting plants what are you worrying about, that if you get too many George won't beable to eat them all!

 I don't know, what do you know? I know that you said you have like a 60 US gallon aquarium and that it measured like 48Lx13Wx24H right? So you need more plants that grow tall and less that are bottom dwellers. You could probably manage 2~3 levels of plants, most of your plants should be very tall and mid levels with a very few bottom dwellers and 1 carpetting plant. That's the way I see and planted aquarium, the plants are just as much a part of the deal as the fish.

Thanks for the info, do you mean something like glossostigma elatinoides as a carpet runner?

FYI Plecos are not a recommended fish for an planted aquarascape. If you require fish to help in the control of algae, then try #1. Siamese Algae Eater a.k.a. SAE - (Crossocheilus siamensis), #2. Flying Fox (Epalzeorhynchos kalopterus) or #3. Common Algae Eater a.k.a. Chinese Algae Eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri). Plecos are known for eating holes through broad leaf plants and cause many other problems with planted aquarascapes.:irked:

Unless you have a tank full of marbles and no plants

Siamese Algae Eater a.k.a. SAE - (Crossocheilus siamensis) are excellent for algae control I've had them in the past, when I had this tank planted before the discus I had them in and no algae problems at all, I've got a bit in the tank now but nothing serious. The plants died at the time do to a serious lack of knowledge btw ,but no algae;)

Sounds fun;)

Carpeting Plants:

1. #053H hardy plant: Pogostemon helferi (It important to note, however, that herbivorous fish appreciate this plant as much as aquarists do).

2. #081 Very Hardy Plant: Sagittaria platyphylla (This is a robust starter plant which is also suitable for the hard water that is found in many European aquariums). In other words Moon Monkeys thrive on these plants.;)

3. #049B Difficult Plant to get started: Utricularia graminifolia, (Is a carnivorous plant. All the plants in this family are insect eating, perennial water and marsh plants. Bladder traps are a unique feature of this family, which Utricularia graminifolia forms after a short period of time in the aquarium).

All above listed plants can be found in your Tropica catalog with the same # listed here.

I have some Siamese Algae Eater's but love plecos so just have to put up with it... the hardy plants do just fine :)... just cannot have any carpet... that and the fact I use no fert-substrate has something to do with it. All the other plants are doing well though :)

I may try some of the above mentioned plants :)... who knows, some may survive... I think it is more me having hard water then the pleco destroying it.
