Connor that was an ignorant remark. So your playing GOD? I bred this fish to feed and I bred this one to keep a long happy life? It is still life. Who are you to judge or anyone to judge wether or not the fish should live long or not? I just took the time to watch the video. I didn't before my first resonse. I do think it is cruel when they feed the Ps in such a way. I think they should be of size to die quicker. I don't think "gulping" fish is any better than biting them in 1/2... I mean damn the poor thing is going to suffocate or sit and get grinded up.
I feed live and man made food. I try to create the most natural enviornment for the fish. If this means feeding live then so be it. Like I said I use to feed my wolf fish rats and mice. Sure I like watching the awesome power that some fish display during feeding. If I did not then I would choose a neon tetra or something else. I am not sadistic. (Well, not in that way :) ) I think it is sad when people do it for pure ammusemen, but I also think it is sad when people say feeders are ok but another fish is jus sadistic. All in all I have to agree that the video is horrible and I think the guy is an ahole, but live feeding is ok!!!!!! QUIT searching Ps and other carnivourous fish!!!!
 
i think its kinda sad people kick up a fuss over a creature that does not feel or is self aware but no one gives a second thought to the meat they eat.pigs are very intelligent i am sure i read they feel depression but no one cares about that stuff. if its cute or against the norm they get angry . there is nothing wrong with live feeder its just when someone gets some pleasure out of watching a small creature get torn apart i find wrong.
 
ummm i actually thought that video was kind of funny, i like seeing koi get tore up. dont be such a little baby girls, ITS JUST A KOI your the only person who cares, i give the guy who made the video props! hes smart not to feed his fish feeders a koi is way bettor for his ps! mwahhahaha
 
you just make yourself look like the person who made this video! they dont even need to be fed live food even when juveniles. i dont own them, but i will one day, and even i know that. read my last post before anyone posts anymore stupid remarks
 
but how do you go about killin the fish humanly. u say freezin. that is terrible. clud it over the head?.... ya thats really violent. o we could just let it sit out and die a long and grueling death.... its dumb stop fusing over predatory fish.... seariously noone wants to hear you whine if it disgusts you

thats what im trying to say. fish food is made out of fish, among other living things. it all dies somehow.
 
Kois are only $4-5 at Petsmart, I mean for that price you can get like 12-15 large feeders. Quality is suspect, not show quality but good for ponds.
 
i think you are all getting off track. my point is that they can be fed something else.

Oh dear. What a sad outlook on a life.

I wonder if you would say that, if someone was keeping something predatory, and had a ton of human beings to feed it. Including you. And their defence was 'whats one less human anyway' ;)

Do I disagree with live feeding? No, if it is neccasary to the health of the animal. I have had to feed live fish to Piranhas that wouldn't take owt else..I didn't stand there and watch..I went out of the room and let them do what they have to. I fed feeders that were small enough to die quickly yet big enough to not just be swallowed whole. Btw, I didn't feed goldfish or the sort, its well known this stunts the growth of your Piranha.

I can see why people get upset by these videos..because these types on youtube who actually video it and then post it for the world to see take at least a little glee in it ;) And that is what most of us with morals do not understand.

Sure feed live, but do it in a safe, controlled, sensible, mature and collective manner is what I say (and also, is only MY opinion).

I think the people here who are disturbed by videos seen too often like this, believe there is a way to do things, and a way NOT to do things.
I think they have a problem when the way NOT to do things (morally) is paraded about.

I also don't agree with the koi life being worth anymore than a 'feeders'. Life is life, all is worth the same respect.

And I don't think people who feed frozen foods are right in their thinking that its OK because it is already dead. You are all still supporting these animals death (which beleive me, isn't totally pain free either). Feed frozen, feed live, we are all still supporting it. End of.

Its when people get their kicks from watching an uneccasary slow death that it begins to get sick and quite frankly, worrying.

This is my opinion & mine only, I respect every body elses, its theirs and they have their right to it as I do. Want to slam me for my opinion? PM me..
