diy airstones????

anyone make an airstone?
or anything like one?
im sick of the crappy blue ones that break when you look at them or clog fast
i know they have ceramic or something but they cost more and i figure break easy
i need lots
when i transport fish i use up to a dozen airstones lol
so lets here some ideas
show pix if you have done this

and i dont like the hole in a hose idea

Did you know you can clean old/clogged/slow airstones by soaking them in a bleach solution?

they still suck and break to easy for what im doing

You know those things used to sharpen knifes? it feels exactly like an airstone so I imagine there has to be something you could do with those.

Maybe something porous then stick a tube and air pump it, I'd try a sponge they are cheap and expendable.

Lava rock/pumice with a pipe glued in it? Should work as it's porous.

They make wooden air stones. Just find out what kind of wood it is and get some and cut it and drill it and insert a tube and seal that to the wood and then weigh it down. i would guess that its balsa wood. And most all wooden fish floats are made from balsa. I know you have some old floats around there some where. -----------------------------------------------------------post back with results.

I was wrong its LIME WOOD. I have never heard of it. I found this on the net.------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Air stones can be made of ceramic, glass, or becoming more in vogue, wood. Wood stones can be easily made at home with different kinds of woods that are readily obtained, but the most common wood used is limewood. This type of air stone is supposed to be ideal for air driven protein skimmers, and they are inexpensive to make. Not diy but, on my pond I've got a membrane air dome connected to the bottom drain, this opens and closes with the air and should last a minimum of 2 years even with the hard water we have, surly there is something similar and smaller that won't clog up?

I'll do some digging about when I get back from work

the petsmart here has the wooden one's, never used one but i hear they're good. what are you doing that requires so many might i ask
