Are we talking about the same thing? I thought we were talking about seachem denirate. If so it's a porous material like their matrix.
I meant to say it was a media that grew bacteria.

Im going to try and replivate joeys design.
But had some hobby mesh laying around. Scrapped it and gonna try and see if anything grows in the mean time.

Why not set up a continuous drip system? Water is cheaper than power in my neck of the woods.

Good point and eventually i will but figured im spending $$$ on lighting a bunch of water lettuce. Fogured this would cost the same but maybe be a little more efficient for notrate absorbtion

I admit I do like tinkering with gadgets and plumbing and have considered some sort of aquaponics setup for my tank. It would be sweet to grow veggies off of it to feed my plecos.

Yeah me too. Figured it would be fun to try and if it really lowers nitrates the way its reported that would be awesome
