Diy bichir tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What would be the best kind of filtration?
A canister filter?
Sump?
And what plants would be best and is there any other ways I can filter it better because I'm not trying to do it for free and I obviously understand there is some cost to it I'm just trying to keep it as low as possible

wh

i mean u right.. but how does senegal make it right to keep? its still a live animal its value isnt decided by price in my opinion?

filter material cost a lot and light aswell so going cheap with a tank isnt even so cheap since the rest is the most expensive part.
I think he just means there water parameter would need to be more steady

it was more about the cost of the OP keeping the overall costs low while keeping the "bucket list" fish which is a bichir. Cheap sponge filter works great with a cheap air pump. Cheap led book light or desk lamp will work well enough. A cheap bichir (at least in my area) is a petco/petsmart bichir.

sump would def be best, It increases the total water in the tank which is better since you dont have a lot of liters.
I would say 3 bichirs if your filter allows it.
Stocking heavily depends on your filter. so telling what fish are possible is kinda impossible without you having decided on a filter first
Are you planning on putting a lit over it?

Would this be alight I might make it a bit larger and add more filtration but it gives you the main idea

yeah would be alright.
I wouldnt go for those cheap as sponges do, better filter material (which is expensive) might cost less on the long run since cleaning will cost less time, maybe less diseases (since medicine cost money) etc..

and are you planning on a lit on the tank?
