Diy bichir tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
and are you planning on a lit on the tank?
? i keep asking this

If by lit you mean light then I was going to use less lights like the ones you push and they come on I did say that before

Oh I was probably going to use fine netting like is used for mosquitos to stop fish jumping out but nothing much for evaporation but I'd probably be doing regular water changes 2 or 3 times a week because of the amount of fish

maybe butterflyfish? or danios

Can some one finally help me with stocking now please so I can finally get an idea of what I'm going to put in it so how many bichirs can I have and what species if there is room for numerous bichers I would rather do different species or arleast colour variations so like albino or platinum so that I don't have lots of the same thing and for other tank mates is there anything possible to live with them like smaller schooling fish or livebearers incase they get eaten or would it have to be bottom dwellers because of dimension but if you can give me a list of potential fish and numbers that would be really helpful

what ???

you would need a really good filter but the dimensions are perfect (for bichirs atleast since it has a lot of surface area) If you get a big sump under it it is probably able to house more bichirs. Since you can add the liters of the sump + tank = total liters
If you put a 80x40x60 sump under it you could house 3/4 bichirs if smaller species as palmas, delhezi or senegal

For stocking I think I have an idea if someone could tell me if its suitable for the bichir part of things I was thinking
1 palmas bichir
1 delhezi bichir
1 normal senegal bichir
1 albino or platinum senegal bichir
And then for the other tank mates to give it a little bit more action I was thinking
A breeding group of guppies incase they get eaten
7 or 8 congp tetras
1 female bristlenose pleco because I already have a male in a different tank and would like to breed them in the future
That would be the stock for everything in the tank
Then for decoration I was going to do something like this
and put some fake plants in for hiding and then probably frogbit to float on the top I also found some underwater led lights I was going to put in along with some led lights about it so would all of this be suitable

Sorry that was long but can someone please reply so I can get this plan in motion because from my research as long as the filter is powerful enough it should all be possible so please can someone let me know if it is

i would not put the bristle noses with them, they poop so much.
With 4 bichirs and the rest you already have a heavy stocking.
2 bristle noses are equal to around 15 bichirs in poop, in my experience.

the decoration is nice, but it takes a lot of space out of the tank. I would decorate with hiding spots and atleast 4 different spots so they wont fight over a spot.
Maybe use a fake wood log instead of those stones since they take up a lot of space.

how are you gone connect the sump you showed before to the tank? are you gone drill a hole in the tank or?

Ok thank you and are they compatible with Congo tetras and guppies or are there any other things you could suggest
