DIY Blue LED lighting?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just started updating my tank, added some black diamond sand, and a few new plants. Don't have everything in there yet just thought I would show how the lights look in the tank now. Sure is expensive.

Im thinking about adding the white leds to my setup now.
Is there anyway they can be dimmable?
Does each white led have to have its own driver?

Tank is 4ft, will have 2 blue leds on dimmer & timer. Would like to do the same with white.

Cheers
Dan

Hey Trick,

I know it's been awhile and you probably thought I just forgot about updating you but I just finally got around to doing this tonight. Things have been really hectic lately that I never have time to work on my tank. But anyway, I got the blue LEDs installed properly but unfortunately I busted the white ones lol. Like the previous poster, I didn't realize that I got the AC/DC mixed up so white lights went bye lol. I think I'm going to stick to blue LEDs for now especially since I don't really have live plants anymore and I don't think I'll keep any because of my Silver Dollars.

Here's a video of how the blue LEDs on my tank.

Thank you very much! I couldn't have done this without your help

Looking really good! Too bad the white ones blew up.

Dan technically the blue ones are not even supposed to be hooked up to a dimmer somehow it works though. You could hook them all up to one really big driver but I think it would be hard to find one just right. I've seen people wire them in parallel and have them fail right away. I'll look and see if I can find a big driver that would work. How many and what size white were you thinking?
