I want to use a 5 gallon bucket for a canister filter. I want to put the pump at the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket. The problem I have is how to seal the cord. Can this be done? Or do I need to find a external pump? Thanks

I'm skeptical that a 5 gallon bucket wouldn't leak under pressure

I would use an external pump or one designed to be submersible

I use these all the time. They will require you to cut the cord end off and use a repair end....but the repair ends or better anyway IMO...
I have a maxi jet 1200. I would love to use it in the bottom of the 5 gallon tank but I need to do something with the cord and where it exits the 5 gallon bucket

Tank pr bucket?
I have made DIY canisters before using buckets and they work well. A gamma seal top and an electrical cord bulkhead connector is all ypu need.....and some creativity and testing.

That's all you need.
Thanks this is what I am doing but my question was where the heck do you put the cord when you have a submersible pump at the bottom?
Boldtogether thank you so much! That is exactly what I was asking and looking for. Do you know if lowes menards or home depot carries them?

You may have luck there.....but I would try an electrical supply first...make some calls....I can't remember HomeD or Lowes having them. ...but they might....in the elecrical dept.
