Ok so both your fittings are ontop of the pail. Grab another pail and double up the pails
This was the prototype! I actually moved the output of the filter to the side. It seems to leak around the lid. I cannot believe the amount of pressure put on this with just a siphon. I mean its crazy. I was thinking last night. What if I put a hole in the intake above the water line? I know I loose some siphon but isn't that what I want? Sorry I will get a updated picture I jsut had that one already on my phone.
I'm skeptical that a 5 gallon bucket wouldn't leak under pressure
Like I said...
Millerkid519 suggested doubling up the bucket by placing one on the outside, but perhaps it would be better to doubling the bucket by placing one on the inside. Take another 5 gallon bucket, cut off the bottom and ribbed top, cut the bucket length wise so it no longer is a solid tube, now cut a smaller strip off from one of the cut ends, so that when you place the cut-up bucket into the canister bucket the cut ends abuts each other tightly and the 2 bucket walls are snug against each other. May even go as far as melting some of the spare plastic to "weld" the new seam permanently. I hope this makes sense
You are probably under negative pressure with the pump running. With the pump off the pressure increases and the leak occurs
