Im not sure the box says 550g but when i calculated it i got more. its 8x8 and 18"deep but will most likely only be filled to the 17" mark. what about an algae eater for this? I was thinking a common pleco then bring him in for the winter in my 300g but i hate moving large fish around more then i aboslutely have to. Only 10 shubunkins? is that full grown? 10 full grown would be awesome but when they are small that pond will look empty. How big is your pond?

I meant 10 full grown shubunkins. If you are just using it as a grow out, you could put alot of shubunkins in there. My pond is unfortunately only about 200 gallons. I have big ideas for a 1500 + gallon pond but money and convincing my wife are two big obstacle, lol.

yes i do plan to upgrade but might not be anytime soon, just depends. but for now, I am hoping this works, i will put some large plants around it for shade if needed. I was thinking about a few nice shubunkins and a ton of feeders to make it look full , once i add more shubunkins and the get larger i will reduce the comets. But i will not add all of this at once. My turn over rate is starting at 200gph and in a month or so i can afford to buy a larger 1200+gph pump

what about a algae eater for this, or can i get a TSN and no other fish :D i wish

Channel cat also work well in the fl temps. I live in florida as well and have tried a variety of tropical fish. All do well untill we get a sudden drop in temp for 1 or 2 days. My plecos, channel cats and koi stay outside all yr long.

This is a link to my pond. Currently stocked with pacu, silver dollars, RTC, RTCxTSN, oscar, lyonsi, leporinus, CK, and plecos. Filter is a 32 gallon trash can filled with scrubbies. Temps in winter fell below 60 at times but everyone huddled around the heater and survived. Looking to go bigger soon.

Awesome. What part of florida do you live in? im 30 miles from GA so im kind of up there. Im not sure I could afford to heat this thing,or keep it cool enough in the summer to go with the fish i really want, like a silver aro and few big oscars

St. Pete. Used one heater and a tarp for the coldest nights. Looking into a solar pool heater for the next one.

Personally I think its not too bad an idea!

If I had a garden I'd give that a go :)

yea my only worry is roots puncturing the bottom liner

The current one is on my screened patio. The next one going in the yard will have a raised base. Use an herbicide and weed blocker underneath. I didn't sink mine this time because I didn't want to put up a fence to keep the dog out.
