I was browsing youtube today up untill i saw a fish tank with LED moonlights. Being low on money (about 25 bucks) and having a 50 gallon (48inch long tank), i wanted to create something similar with good light output. I used a 48 inch plastic tubing from home depot ($7). I bought 12 prewired LEDs ($5) and a metal rod i had laying around the house (from old curtain). I put slots along the plastic tube and stuck the LED's pointing straight down until i reached the end. I then slid the metal rod across the hole tube to straighten it out and so that it can be supported on the tank. Here are some better pictures to explain this.

Feel free to ask questions.

(i made slits with a razor and inserted the LED's pointing down)

(the prewired LED's on ebay do not have connectors for house outlets. I got an AC adapter that converted it from an old charger to DC12V and crimped the wires together. When lit up, this is what it looked like.)

This is the tank when the room is lite up

It cost me 12 bucks + parts I already had. I bought a dual 12" cold cathode light and used a old power supply. I removed the castles and replaced them with a single large DIY rock cave.

Wow both tanks look very cool I've been looking to do something like that as my aro likes it dark.
