DIY OVERFLOW HELP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yep, I have some screen from my porch. It's 1 1/4" for the over flow and 3/4" hose - 1" piping for the return line....should not be too restricted IMO

try it
worst case gotta make a new one

i dont think anyone has really tested how much each size overflow flows
"i could be wrong tho" lol
but im sure someone will chime in on how much their 1 1/4,1.5 and 2" flows

i just dont see how 1" can flow 600 when my 3/4 cant even do 256
and i think 600 for 1" might be just strait pipe
every turn kills flow

im just picturing
mine 3/4 at 256gph,cant handle it
your overflow is twice the size of mine, but you will be flowing over 3 times what i am
see what im thinking?lol

but if you have a valve on your pump then you can make it work
or go to 2"

and hey,im just bored so dont take all my words serious,im a newb at this too,im just a lil ahead of you is all
im going to make my 1" soon so i can flow my full 256gph pump :screwy: lol
:D

so I will have to make it bigger than 1 1/4"? I thought it was good from 900gph-1200gph....http://watergarden.com/catalog/pond-pump-tubing.html
that looks like for a pump, this overflow isnt like that

a 90 for return or intake? I have a 45 for return and a 90 for intake.
intake
sounds right,you see my setup?
i have a 45 for return and 2 90's for inlet
i have duel 90 inlets incase one clogs
:)

Did not think about the dual; I have read people saying 1" return line is too thick for the mag 9.5..is that true? From what I read it creates more back pressure on the pump.
