I was looking into getting some silver dollars for my 125 and was wondering if it was possible to get 1 of a few different species and have them school together. Would it also be possible to just get a group of 3 since they are not going in a huge tank or do I really need to get 5.

Can start with a.m group of 3 and add a few more later. But yes can have different species together.

Thx for the response, any suggestions or a 3rd species I should get, I am so far going to get 1 metynnis fasciatus and 1 myleus schomburgkii. Myloplus-rubripinni is the other one I was looking at but I keep reading different reports on how big they get.

Those get bigger and would eventually need bigger than 125g. Stick with fasciatus, aregenteus, maculatus, and redhooks. The rubripini and schomburgkii get bigger and need more space to swim.

Alright will do. Was weird that seriously fish said the schomburkii only get 4.5 inches, other places said 6-7 inches, and other places said 16.

Thin bars can get 6-7in and wide bars can easily get over 12inches.

Looks like a mix of wide and thin but the one turning in the photon is hard to tell. Hence I’m saying mixed. Can message them for actual photos of all the fish.
I might end up just getting 3 fasciatus from jeff they look really cool as well. I don't want to accidentally end up with a fish I can't care for long term. Thanks for all your help :)
