Why is it that every beautiful monster tank for sale used is in "socal"? Seriously do I have to move to california to get a good deal on a huge used tank? They are so few and far inbetween here on the east coast. Is there a reason for this?

I have noticed the same thing, and I have never seen a fair deal on a monster in the mid west.

I often joke it would still be cheaper to drive out and pick up the tank. I get so jealous to see 300 Gallons for 300 bucks.

NY and NJ in my opinion rival SoCal for the best collection of hobbyists.

We can have gars and rays, after all.

I think the hobbyists are here and we have some great stores (i'm about 15 minutes from Jersey), but the used tanks just all seem to be out there. I don't know anybody locally with monster tank. Every once in awhile there is a 265 on craigslist for an insane amount of money.

Well I think the south side is still pulling up last place in this race. I have seen numerous "huge tanks" which usually ends up being a 55 gallon with maybe lights and sometimes a stand for $500. And the killer part, then they finish with "hurry this deal won't last long"... Haha yeah, right

Well, if plywood builds take off then the east coast can catch up in size. Otherwise it just requires some extra effort to get a big tank. I have a 500.

I would get angry with 200 55 gallons, heck you can go buy a while kit minus the stand brand new.

If I did not probably live in socal and hard to find those tank or fish in your place I probably be driving too ..lol
