I got my first flu shot ever this year because my wife was pregnant. Im just the kind of guy who avoids doctors and needles all together. I've gotten flu viruses before, theu normally last less than 48 hours. I even got salmonella once from some dirty chicken wings, It took 6 days and half a dozen bottles of pedialite, but I survived. Not the smartest call on my behalf.
My pregnant wife got a flu shot too, and still got the flu. We spent a couple thousand dollars at the emergency room for that. It could have been really serious for her and the baby. Without iv fluids I dunno what would've happened.
I'm pro vaccine. My parents can remember going to school with kids who had polio, some of these epidemics werent too long ago. I don't want to help bring any of that back. I vaccinated my new born. We broke up the vaccines into multiple appointments, it's just my opinion, based on no scientific facts whatsoever - that a <10lb human doesn't need to be crammed full of half a dozen vaccinations in a single sitting.
I think i may continue to get flu shots my self, for the sake of my daughter getting sick.
