are you saying if we fed our pigs with pineapples and mangos that bacon would taste orgasmifyingly good?

I guess the word "garbage" is subjective. Farm animals that are sent to slaughter are fed certain foods that make their meat more tender and taste better.

Its why veal tastes like it does, its why grain fed cows have better tasting beef than those that dont eat grain, its why wild caught trout tastes better than farm raised trout. Its why wild caught flounder, shrimp, oysters etc, especially from different regions, are in higher demand than local farm raised ones are in some places. Where I live, other states want our local oysters over their own, even though they live where there are oysters naturally.

As far as mangos & pineapples..yes, it would alter the taste of what youve come to know as bacon significantly. I personally love local bacon from local hog farms over Canadian or California bacon. It has a huge taste difference.

my sis ate my silver dollars after they died during transport, she said it was yummy. she's still drooling everytime she saw my big midas.....mmmm look at that big head....must be yummy..lol.
i've eaten a lot of my fish in the past, unless they died from a horrible disease, all cichlids tasted good.

The water in my tank is probably cleaner than most of the local lakes. So no problem there.

Farm raised fish eat pellets and what ever bugs they catch. My fish basically eats the same. No problem there.

My fish comes right up to glass just begging me to eat him. So no problem there.

Hey wait what did I just say... I meant he comes up to the glass begging me to feed him! Big problem-you cant eat your pets!

Tell that to farmers that raise their cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens and other livestock here in the USA. Most kids on farms raise the babies as pets until slaughter time. Its been like that for eternity. Wanna take it a step further? Go to Korea, China or many many other asian countries or provinces. Then we get into animals that we consider somewhat domesticated pets (spiders, scorpions, snakes, lizards, turtles, birds, & lots of large mammals) & they consider food.

Pets probably initially came about because people caught animals to eat in abundance and kept them alive to eat later.

Dont get me wrong, Id never my fish or other pets, but I dont think its a big deal if some do eat their fish.

The guy that ate his Midas was (i think) Monster Fish Eater.I think I met him here in San Diego and he said the reason he ate him is because he was only offered 5 bucks for him and he would have rather eat him then give him away.He said it tasted just like fish food.I'm glad I bought my Hait from him or he might have ate him!

I raise tilapia and eat them. I sell fry and fingerlings to others who do the same. However, I wouldn't touch most "aquarium raised" fish simply because of the chemicals used by most owners.

Ug i dont think that i woudl eat any of my fish..... Well i ate my saltwater flounder when it got to big But that was diffrent Its a flounder.

AHHHH ZOMBIE THREAD!! but yeah i couldn't eat the fish i raised, just as i dont eat the chickens i raised (just have them for the eggs) but i have no problem eating other fish or chicken, cichlids are big fatty fish im sure they are delicious i just couldnt eat something that i personally raised...

Ive seen it in a few posts and videos of people talkin bout eating their cichlids if they over grow their tank or die. Is this true?

If they eat their fish cause they outgrow their tank that is f--- up!! Plus if you use cleaners such as Stress Coat -it is recommended not to eat them. Personally I cant do it-when my die I take it to a taxidermist and put it in my living room-I have quite the collection.
