Do You Ever Think of Cutting Back on This Hobby?

thats extreme.

one of the great things about aquariums is that you CAN leave them easily, whereas with a dog/cat etc. you need a sitter to come and let them out etc.

fish are much easier to leave alone for periods of time.

I agree!!!

this is an interesting thread to come across today, i wont go into what started it (bit of a sore spot atm), but overflow issue with my 100g and 55g wet/dry ~ 30g on the floor and having to take everything dow, take up the carpet fans, steam cleaner, the works. evrythign's dry now and the fish are okay but it was a true pain earlier. (everyone is bunking in the 125 or it's wet/dry atm)

events like this make me just want to run the 1 tank. especially when I have a pond to maintain (which is soon to be upgraded and further take my attentions) but idk, it seems like such a waste to have the setup and try to sell it for chunk change (been offere 30$ for the 55g tank only and75 for the 100g, not worth it imo). or to let it sit idle, i I think I simply need to desing this one like my 125g setup and put and overlfow outside to my pond so that no matter what happens, the floor remains dry.

it's hard we obviously aquired these tanks for a reason and the maintainance of multiples while working full time, family (wife and 4 month old daughter), school (going back for my masters), and balancing what few freinds I have left just seems overwhelming at times.

but, the 100g seems like so much work because of 1 major feature, my 125g is setup with an auto w/c on a timer and drains the old water through the wet/dry to my pond. so basically how much "work" the hobby is depends on how much you put into the instail setup, obviously if my 100g was setup like my 125, I wouldn't have had 30g of water on my floor.

interesting, merely writing it out made up my mind, thanks for the thread FishNCash !

Thanks for the reply. At times I feel overwhelmed with the tank maintainance. It's not easy trying to balance, work, school, family, and friends. Oh ya, is there any time left for fish? I think life is all about being balanced. We make decisions everything to get to this equilibrium.

The thoughts of leaking always got me paranoid and at time give me anxiety. Believe or not sometimes I loose sleep over it cuz I cannot stop thinking about the leak. Water leaking is every fish owner nightmare. I come to conclusion that cutting down will allow me to dedicated the time to my two main tanks and maybe room to setup a mini salt tank.:)

Why don't you take your balls back from your wife and get some monsters?

:) Lol, as others have said:

because vagina visitation rights are important?
if he is like me he likes %#$$& so he trys not to piss of the wife...
i think aquaria is a hobby and not a lifestyle
If you read and understood my post I was burned out 10 years before the wife entered the scene... and was down to 2 tanks at one point before she came into my life.

Also, I've been way behind on normal water changes for years, so I bet the fish I've never bought are happy.

I had the first 38 years of my life to do what I wanted hobby-wise. Now that I'm married my life style comes first.

I like what you said. That's a positive way to look at marriage.:D

Never in a serious way.

My advice?

Just make sure you are keeping the fish you really really like.

For me its a Midas, a GT, a Texas, a pair of convicts and a Birchir.

Life is short, so make sure you enjoy what you love. If you love fish, then go at it full force.
