I feed very little unless breeding, and always fast them at least two days a week, also keep temperatures low (about 72F). This allows the fish to live much longer because they don't have a high metabolism rate. They are still very active.

IMHO most people overfeed because they don't know any better, and many people who do know better STILL overfeed because they like watching the fish eat, which is selfish.

Fat cats, fat goats, fat turtle, fat fish, I just can't help myself! :) I will skip the fish once or twice a month, I've heard that letting them fast occasionally is good for them.

We strive to please.. i think they are all my dinner quests....
And i understand ..i always feed to much too..but i have faced this honestly and now i question it.. and i want to change... I want Help!!!haha... seriously though... we all know water quality is the most important thing..even more important then food.. the fish live in the water and cannot excape that glass prison we provide... so the truth is we need to really regulate our amounts... even if some fish lose a little weight.. yet i want to strive for perfection and not underfeed any ...:nilly::nilly:

you sound like my hubby... he says if you really love them you would feed them less because they will live alot longer and be alot healthier..but he thanks me for piling his plate full every night:D:D

Well, a proper diet and healthy portions are easier to impose on the fish than on myself....

i over feed all my "main" fish... then the plecos finish up the rest..

Thats why i try to have alot of plecos..the trouble begins when the others eat everything and do not leave left overs for the plecos.. some fish will eat until they burst so no one else gets it.
