exactly. if a snake shouldnt be removed of its venom why should a stingray :screwy:

i stroked my rays once, and they clearly didnt like it but swam off, didnt try stinging me.

Why tail-clipping for stingrays? They are not aggressive or defensive. You can still interact with them with their barbs left intact.

True that! I've swam with them off Grand Caymen before. It was an awesome experience!

Maybe he got a serious Steve Irwin complex?

Well snakes are vemous, not poisonous, which is why it's venomoid, but I know what you mean.

Agree with it? NO - simple as.

People do it to every animal on the planet. Not only do we give animals little respect by often not meeting their needs to suit ours, but start changing physical appearence and attributes so that suits us too.
tailess dogs, barbless stingrays, clawless cats, venomless/fangless snakes, we'd do anything. Eventually most of these practices will become illegal, although herps and amphibians are generally at the bottom of a long to-do list when it comes to animals.
This year saw the law concerning descenting of skunks this year, can't do it anymore. Also there was an amendment to the tail docking of all dogs it's illegal unless it is a working dog of a certain nature, and can only be done by a vet (no breeders).

I'm no tree-hugger but people who feel the need to change their animals should get a robot of their design and a broken nose.

is this topic meant to piss people off?
Anyone that is a true Snake enthusiast is going to be 100% against this,

CRAP I accidentally went out of the message now I have to retype it! AHHHHHHHHH

Stingray clipping is NOT making them venomoid. Clipping stingers is like fingernails. Its keratin, comes off painlessly and grows back. The gland is left intact and healthy. I wouldnt do it if I had a stingray, but I think its a good idea for aquarium touch tanks, but leave it at that. No need to otherwise. Just that the public would be paranoid about them because of you know what. And NO, that was not a Steve Irwin moment... Thanks for ruining my mood...

So its not even close to removing snake fangs. Ever seen a ray stab a fish and eat it? Me neither. Ever seen a venomous snake bite a mouse and eat it? Ever seen one not? Ray spines are defense, not food. Fangs are both, which is why Id rather let them keep their way of eating. Would you remove a dogs teeth? Would you clip its claws?

no but snakes dont just use their venom to kill theyre prey..they use as a form of defense :screwy:

and people dont choose to remove it so they cant eat prey (they can eat fine without it in captivity) they use it so THEY are not at danger. Same as the reason you would remove stingrays stings.
