Doberman Pinscher or German Shepherd?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dobermann > Rottweiler
Belgian Malinois > German Shepherd

Belgians and dobies are less moody to me and also very playful.

<<<< Definitely the Belgian, although I am more of a fan of the Belgian Tervuren or Belgian Shepherd.

Or you can go with a Caucasian Shepherd.:)

dont know about where your at but about 90% of the German Shepard's are completely neurotic around here(Winnipeg Mb)

Are they all white? Every person I've known with a white one said they were great with their household but loose canons with everyone else including frequent visitors. What is your experience with them? They are tremendous guard dogs, if they are in their yard and you walk by they will let you know you are not wanted but they same dog will be very friendly in a neutral environment.

i would say dobermans but im bias.got one atm just turning 5 months and looking to get another one here soon.

barking, chasing tails excessively, whining, being aggressive towards dogs and people.
And your right they can be great dogs if there taught to simply respect there owners, plus i just think here its a combination of bad breeders and people letting there dogs do whatever they want.
also iv'e never seen or even heard of a all white Shepard.

very true i used to own and hunt with fell and jagdterriers:headbang2.i never thought id like a small dog but my daughter brought home a chinese crested and i have to say i loved that dog so much that i didnt even pay attention to my buddies laughing at me when i walked down the street with a 8lb hairless dog in a leapard print coat.:ROFL:of course my 180 lb mastiff was walking right next to her. :grinno:

if you look into a good "what breed is rite for me" program and answer the questions honestly, truly honestly you'll come up with the dog that fits who you really are.

ive worked with animals since i was well i guess i picked my fist fish around 4 according to my dad.ive worked with some of the best show dogs, hunting dogs, weighpulling, agility, personal protection dogs, and impounded some of the nastiest pure mean dogs you've even seen.i can tell you 95% of the time it boils down to whos at the other end of the leash.

I had wanted a Chinese crested hairless female for awhile, funny thing is, I gave up and then last summer one was sitting on my front lawn lost. I tried finding the owner, and with 4 dogs already I couldn't keep it anymore either. It now lives a few houses down with a nice elderly gentleman whose dog had passed away a few months before that. Nice to see her with a good person.

i hate german shepherds. not only because they are annoying but also because i was bitten right on my nut sack by one...stupid *****. pun intended.

i have two friends who are owners of doberman pinschers, they are very friendly with their kids and others. great guard dog and very obedient.

not to mention they look super tough and grow to be a beast. i say get a doberman and become a monsterdogkeepers

My golden retriever was born with hip dyspepsia. Yes BORN with it! Most develop it later on. He's now 9 years old and we have to help him up sometimes and my mom trims his fur every week on his paws to prevent slipping. He's got 3 prescription med's and he loves ice. doesn't walk on the floor hardly anymore. Prefers the carpet. Recently we bought like 50 carpets so he could walk everywhere :). Our previous golden ate so many socks every day he **** them out all over the backyard. We called him the sockmonster. He'd eat my brothers GIANT baseball Socks. We could never figure out how he swallowed them. He died of cancer in early 2003 :(.
Here's a pic of Max my cat and the painting i painted a few years back of digger my previous dog. And rocket who'd now 9

PS my name is Mr. Bigglesworth named after the cat from Austin Power's and I call my cat Mr. Bigglesworth.

i am getting another dobie puppy soon.. i need another dobie... they really are special.

That Caucasian Shepherd is nice looking, I'd hate to have that one get fleas though. It wouldn't survive the heat well either.. We have some of THE worst backyard breeders/puppy mills around here, 2nd only to MO. Be sure to meet the pup's parents, the temperament really is passed down to the pups and isn't just determined by how they are raised.
