Does anyones fish keeping hoby get them in trouble

financially it kills me and i would say its better then spending my money on booze and going out, but i still do both of those... so yeah financially a real kick in the ball bag

but i wouldnt change that for the world.

if your going to go into debt, it may as well be for some monster fish :)

I fought 2 months for my 10 GALLON!
And a year for my 55...
But as long as I am the one caring for them, family dosent care much.
My mom keeps saying discus, my brother oddballs, my dad salt, but I keep danios and cats. Period.

your brother might be on to something, listen to him some more.

Anyway, right now with the way things are with money, fishkeeping does have to take a backseat, but still that just means no rare expensive fish or huge tanks for me

Lol. i've read this thread completely. I agree that fish keeping makes 1 huge hole in the wallet!! And having a girlfriend compatible with fish isn't always easy:(
At least now, i don't go out too much(who's gonna feed my fry????) and spend less money in alcohol and other nasty stuff ;)
 
my canister blew and i flooded my downstairs neighbors co-op with about 80 gallons of water while we were both at work. and we weren't on good terms before that...
 
Well quite contrary actually. The worst times in my life were when I didnt focus on an animals care. I grew pot and was strung out on opiates speed and alcohol and valium. I have turned my life around over the past year and I feel the fish have had alot to do with it. Im an obsessive person I obsessed over my fish before drugs. And now im obsessing over my fish again.
 
Ive just bought myself a 17 inch florida gar,even though my other half loves our discus and plecs and cories,she doesnt share the same enthusiasm for my predators,when she saw the gar she said,could have put that towards a dishwasher! So i said that wont look good in the tank,it wont float never mind swim! Lol!
She didnt see the funny side!

I had it good I had a GF who sat and stared at my tanks for hours. we would go to the City and she would bug me to go to the fish store. she pointed out great deals on tanks it was all perfect. everything was good in the hobby and outside of it as well. I decided to Marry her. 1 month before the wedding she wanted the tank in the Bedroom gone and the 2 in the kitchenthen she complained how much I spent on the hobby. other things started to go south and 2 weeks before the wedding she left. that was 4 weeks ago and I have since purchased 3 new tanks and eliinated the spare room in my home for more fish lol I guess that would be a yes it has got me into trouble.
