my mom has gotten practically obsessed with my fish. i got stuck with some large cichlids that i saved from ym friends pirhana tank and couldnt keep them all after college so i was gonna give them to a lfs but my mom refused and got super attached to them. her getting mad is only cuz she thought my big back cr. sveni ate my 3" convict whihc is like her favorite fish. i said look under and around all the rocks he'll be there and sure enough he was. fish friendly family = :)

Now you mention that... When I lived at home with my mother a few years ago, whenever a fish died, got eaten or whatever, my mom would cry and get so upset.. She would fly out of the room cursing and say she cant handle it... Etc etc.... I thought she was funny...

my missus is always *****in an moanin about my tanks, i just swich off listenin

For me, the hobby keeps me out of trouble.

The reason I got into fish keeping in the first place was to give me something
to do while I was trying to clean up my bad lifestyle and get sober. I had a pretty
rough past. So I replaced a habit with a habit.

x2 :WHOA:drugs suck.... and as much as i bugger away on the hobby its just no contest to the absolute cost of what i was doing finiancially its not saving me much though:)

It hasn't gotten me in trouble yet. It seems like I have always had some sort of aquarium since I was young but they were all smaller aquariums. My guiter hobby has made me get some looks though. I hope this 120g I got pushes me over the line. That means I am doing it right!

Mostly money wise. I'm also sometimes really stressed about the hobby. It seems like my fish are always sick or something is wrong with a piece of equipment. My aquariums are cycled, large enough/undercrowded(except maybe my quarantine), I don't overfeed; Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are always good when I check; and I do weekly 25-35% water changes/gravel vacs. Either I'm doing something wrong that I don't know about or I'm just crappy at selecting fish. Sometimes fish keeping is the opposite of calming for me.
