Does bio media break down

yeah i have them in my 120 but with bigger ones in my 75 are only there for about 1-2 more months before they can go in the 120. but i have a 280 being delivered to my moms house and i am moving into an apartment. so setting it up has been put off for a year. it was hard enough finding an apartment that would let me bring my 120 let alone a 280.

What was the name of this stuff so we know to avoid it :headbang2I see a mixture of bio media's but did any one of them seem to be deteriorating ?
