thats true, i was about 10 when my brother was diagnosed with cancer who was 16 at the time. That is one thing i never understood which is why was it him? what caused him to have it...

It's stuff like that that make it hard for me to believe everything happens for a reason. It's such a cliche saying anyways but it does make you feel better when it's somethin that's just tough luck (minor car accident, passed up on a promotion) but when it's horrific stuff......it just doesn't fit.

sometimes i feel like everything is pre-determined. such as this week i thought we were finally getting sorted because we started to put money back into our saver account but the car broke and cost me about £350 (~$600) which is coming straight out the saver.
other times it feels like i have full control, but honestly i really dont know.

Q: Does everything happen for a reason?
A: No! **** happens! Some people just like to put a reason for it to make himself or herself feel better, just like it's already said by another member.

Finding truth is just how we comfort our subconscious from our fear of the unknown.
Sad but true for so many! Usually you turn twelve, realize that virtually everything is unknown, and understand that fear isn't helping. At least, I hope that happens for most people.

Everything does happen for a reason.

The problem that people have with this, is when negative things happen, we ask, "well, why would that be meant to happen? That sucks!", but the question you have to ask is, why do we assume that if there is a reason why things happen, they must all be positive things?

I do believe everything happens for a reason. We just may not be able to see(or understand) the reason at the time. When I look back now I see that if the tiniest thing had been different my life would have went a different direction. Even horrible negative things that have happened to me, have worked out and made me the person I am today. So in a way I am thankful for those bad things because they made me into who I am.

Maybe because of the questions we've already asked about negative things. Let's just say somethin negative happens to someone's parents, would you tell their kid "it's ok bud, everything happens for a reason?" Turn on the news. Listen to the horrific ways people die when there's so many ways for them to go out. I sure hope that didn't happen for a specific reason.

Someone above mentioned that the tiniest decicions affect the directions and outcome of your life. Now that i agree with. Every decision you make changes your path.

Again, I've seen things happen for no reason. Granted, there is no way to prove anything has no reason to happen, but you say every leaf that wiggles in the wind is purposeful? It's just not.

Somewhere sits a boulder that, with or without it, the world around flies by without impact.

That boulder has a bigger impact on the life around it then you realize. It can be sheltering small insects/animals Denying sunlight to plant life or giving a surface for them to grow on. Effecting erosion in the landscape nearby. All things that can effect human life at some point in infinite numbers of scenarios.
